The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has said that it has uncovered plans by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in connivance with INEC to rig the gubernatorial election scheduled to hold on Saturday.
The publicity secretary of the party, Alhaji Sani Dododo, made the allegation during a press conference at the Gubernatorial Campaign Office of the party in Birnin Kebbi, yesterday.
Dododo alleged that a meeting was held between some PDP chieftains and INEC officials in the state to strategise on how INEC staff will be mobilised with a huge amount of money to manipulate results by using fake result sheets at remote areas of Dolekaina, Lolo, Shanga and Bagudo local government areas.
He added that remote areas were particularly targeted by PDP where low turnout was noticed so that they could carry out their clandestine plan with the assistance of INEC staff who have been promised over N600million.
Dododo alleged that PDP has also planned to go for Plan B if Plan A fails, saying “Plan B is to sabotage the election by using political thugs to destabilise the election by causing trouble at the polling units”.
He warned that the APC in the state will not allow the will of Kebbi people to be subverted as measures have since been taken including informing all the security agencies and the four emirs of the state.
The resident electoral commissioner of the state, Jibril Ibrahim Zarewa, denied all the allegations levelled against the INEC.
The PDP chieftains and INEC staff who attended the meeting at the residence of PDP guber candidate included Bello Tuga, commissioner of finance, Umar Tafida, PDP guber running mate, Abubakar Malan, Murtala Marshal, Rabiu Kamba, secretary to the state government and the director of operation of INEC alongside the electoral officer of Birnin Kebbi local government, he said.
