It was an evening, which came with rain, the rain being the first this year, in Kaduna. And for one of the organisers, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, it was her first time in Kaduna.
The event, which held at Silver Sand Hotel, Katuru Road, Uguwar Sarki, Kaduna, barely 48 hours to the Presidential poll, was put together by the wife of the President elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, Hajia Aisha Muhammadu Buhari and wife of Buhari’s running mate, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, where Mrs. Buhari called on all Nigerians to vote APC in the presidential election, declaring that a vote for her husband would signal the beginning of a better Nigeria .
Similarly, Mrs. Osinbajo, who said she was coming to Kaduna for the first time that Wednesday, told the gathering that were she to be very rich, no Nigerian would go to bed hungry.
Mrs. Buhari, spoke at a “Thank You” dinner, organised by the ‘APC Women Presidential Campaign Initiative’.
According to her, Buhari’s victory would mark a new beginning for Nigeria and Nigerians, saying that the security challenges confronting the nation had assumed an alarming rate, and requires a committed government to address it once and for all.
She was quick to add that to make it possible, Nigerians, must be willing to resist every temptation to sell their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) as that was their potent weapon to vote in good governance.
Hajia Aishat Buhari also told parents, especially women to watch over their children and wards and ensure that they were not used as political thugs during the elections.
Earlier, wife of Buhari’s running mate, Mrs. Osinbajo who spoke passionately about poor living condition of women and youth in the country said, “how I wish I have all the money in the world, no Nigerian will go to bed hungry or sleep outside the house.”
She lamented the poor handling of the abduction of Chibok schoolgirls, saying that there was nothing political about the abduction of the over 200 girls by insurgents almost a year ago. Mrs. Osinbajo equally told Nigerians, particularly the womenfolk that electing APC was the simple sacrifice they must make to salvage their beloved country.
“The slogan of our party is change. Change is here. Change starts from us. We know women sacrifice everyday and that is what Nigeria needs.
A new Nigeria needs sacrifice of everyone. Time has come, when everyone looks beyond the welfare of his or her biological children alone. When we talk about change, it is not about politics, it is about welfare of Nigerians and development of the country,” she stated
