IMO DEPUTY GOVERNOR ADMONISHES NSCDC, PETROLEUM TRUCK DRIVERS OVER PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has harped on the need for a peaceful co-existence between the National Security and Civil Defense Corps, Petroleum Tankers Drivers Association and other sister organisations, as a way to avoid clashes among them.

Prince Madumere gave this admonition at the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia, Abia State last Tuesday, November 29, 2016 when he visited to pay the medical bills of one Kabiru Abdulrahman at the instance of Governor Okorocha led Government ; a petroleum truck driver who sustained a bullet injuries following a clash between the men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and members of Petroleum Truck Drivers Association along Okigwe-Umuahia Express Road five months.

It will be recalled that Imo State Government through Madumere had successfully managed an erupted crisis between the men of NSCDC and members of PTDA, which its spill over effect led to the shutting down of all Petroleum Stations in Imo State by the members of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria in solidarity to Petroleum Tankers Drivers.

Prince Madumere said; "I have come to Federal Medical Center, Umuahia to fulfill the promise made by Imo State Government led by My leader, the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha five months ago to pay the bills of Kabiru Abdulraham. I am happy with the rapid healing process on Kabiru's injury and that he would be going home today."

Advising the NSCDC and the PTDA, he said; "In the series of meetings we had while trying to reach a truce between the leaders of NSCDC, the PTDA and other relevant agencies including IPMAN, I had advised that parties involved must work in principle bearing in mind that every body has its own duties to discharge all for the good of the Nation. They must be able to discharge their duties maturely and responsibly with mutual respect for one another."

He commended the Staff and management of the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia for their commitment to service and promised to always identify with them whenever such occasion arises.

Kabiru responding to the kind gesture of Imo State Government, thanked the Government of Imo State by helping to preserve his life as he prays for God's protection to Governor Okorocha and his deputy, Prince Madumere for their care and love.

In their remarks, the Commandant of NSCDC, Imo State Command, S.Z Lar, Chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chief Chigozie Amadi and the Chairman of Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association, Comrade Ralph Chukwu among others appreciated the high level of concern and commitment shown by Imo State Government and for remaining steadfast to ensuring that the matter came to an end. They pledged to work with mutual respect to enthrone peace and avoid the occurrence of such clashes in the future.

In his contribution, the Medical Director of FMC, Umuahia, Dr. Abali Chuku appreciated Governor Okorocha and his deputy deputy for not only identifying with Kabiru but with other patients in the ward by settling the bills of those who had been discharged.
